Diagonal Laminate Flooring

This is more of a bragger post.
UNFORTUNATELY I do not have a tutorial on these floors but I thought I'd share the flooring we put down in my daughters room.

I will say that if you plan on laying your laminate, wood, or tile down in a diagonal line, I'd advise to buy about 15% more material for waste. and let me tell ya....
THERE WAS A LOT OF WASTE!

But in the end I LOVED the way it came out. I feel like it makes the room "seem" bigger.

Here is a before picture of her flooring.

The ORIGINAL carpet was AWFUL! and smelled SOO bad.
This was actually the first thing taken out the day we started moving into our home. Thanks to our great friend Fredo for using his skills =).

I did some searching online as to what kind of flooring I'd like to do in her room. First I wanted to lay down some wood looking tile either a dark tile or a distressed barn wood like tile. A quick price check brought me back to reality tho! =(

My next thought was to lay down Plywood flooring. I was really interested in that project and the cost would be a lot lower than laying down .99 per sq ft laminate. But then time came into consideration. My son and daughter were sharing a room at the time and it was a constant battle each night about who was taking up more space on the bed.

So I ended up choosing TrafficMaster Laminate from Home Depot at .99 per sq ft Handscraped Saratoga Hickory.

I really like the texture and color or the laminate. I don't like the laminate that's completely smooth making it look EXTRA fake, so I was extremely happy with our choice.

We had to make sure to scrape up all the glue, tack strips, and foam from the cement to have an even surface.

Thankfully my husband did all the hard work on that end.
Make sure you wear some good gloves when handling the tack strips and also have a tetanus shot within the last 10yrs!

We used the TrafficMaster 2-in-1 Underlayment to lay underneath the laminate flooring.

Like I said earlier you will have a lot of waste especially when your starting you corner and when you finish the other corner end.

Thankfully my husband and brother got to work and knocked it out within a few hours.

Here is a picture with her bed in the room. We are in the process of decorating, painting, and putting trim up. Which I'm hoping to have tutorials on.
